TrekMe

What is Live Trekking?

Adventurers have 3 choices when it comes to creating a trek on their TrekMe web site:

1.  User Defined Trek - Use the interactive map (under Show all Treks) to create points by clicking on the map the places you've traveled. The points can either be identified as individual waypoints or can be automatically combined to create a connected series of points that define your Trek.

2.  Import GPS Trek - Log your travels using your GPS tracking feature and easily upload the track from your GPS into TrekMe

3.  Live Trekking - With the purchase or lease a TrekPak, your position from anywhere on earth is automatically transmitted via a satellite or cellular network and posted on your TrekMe web site.

For an example of a “Live Trek”, visit GhostNet Buoy Trek page where you can watch a drifting buoy in the North Pacific that has a satellite TrekPak aboard.

What is a TrekPak?

A TrekPak automatically transmits your GPS position back to your Free TrekMe web page and updates your Trek on a map. Your current position is plotted automatically on your TrekMe web page for your friends and family to follow your adventure

  • Cellular:
For those of you that adventure within range of cell towers, we have a TrekPak that communicates via the cellular network using both GSM and GPRS technologies. Simple and easy to use, the Cellular TrekPak can track your movements around the urban jungle, the open road or anywhere your cell phone text messaging can operate. Low monthly fee
  • Satellite:
For those who adventure in the far reaches of the wilderness, we suggest our satellite based TrekPak. Using the Iridium or Inmarsat satellite network, these TrekPaks will automatically transmit your GPS position from any where on the planet to your TrekMe web site where others can view your latest position and track your Trek.

The bottom line? We hope you will be as excited as we are about Live Trekking as an adventure sharing tool.  Our development team is committed to the constant addition of new features. If you have ideas for new applications, suggestions or comments, please send us a note through Contact Us.
